What to know about the metaverse fashion week in Decentraland
Published on อังคาร, มีนาคม 22, 2022 12:06หลังเที่ยง (GMT +7) by BlockeeWhile fashion month has just wrapped up in Europe, the metaverse is getting ready for its first-ever fashion week. The event will be held from 24 to 27 March in the popular Ethereum-based metaverse, Decentraland.
Over the four days, Decentraland will host a series of runway shows, live music sessions, afterparties, presentations, discussions, and pop-up shops showcasing their digital garments. Unlike most traditional fashion weeks in the real world, where only invited guests are permitted to enter, Metaverse Fashion Week is free and open to everyone. Users simply need to log into Decentraland via their browser to join the fun.
Giovanna Casimiro, head of Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW), stated that the fashion week “will be accessible to anyone and everyone across the globe.”
Aside from watching the shows and having fun, users can purchase and wear digital clothing straight from the virtual catwalk. There will be a QR code that users can scan during the event to see a render of the item they want to buy before purchasing the items as NFTs using their crypto wallet. The purchased NFTs can be worn on their own avatars. Some can also be traded for the physical version of the item.
A luxury shopping area called the “Boson Portal - Fashion District” has been designed to look like the iconic Avenue Montaigne in Paris. Within this district, brands will be able to virtually sell both physical and digital items through NFTs.
More than 50 luxury and digital brands will virtually showcase their new collections with digital avatars walking the runways. Among the brands who participate include Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Saab, Etro, Dundas, Roberto Cavalli, Garrett Leight, Paco Rabanne, Faith Connexion, Hugo, and Dolce & Gabbana. Moreover, digital-native fashion house Auroboros will also host an immersive experience and a performance by Grimes. Another digital fashion house, The Fabricant, will also showcase its designs during the event.
