Three Free Axies to expect in Axie Infinity: Origin
Published on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 02:55pm (GMT +7) by BlockeeAxie Infinity, one of the most popular play-to-earn NFT games, has announced that its most awaited update will be released sometime at the end of March. The upcoming update is called Axie Infinity: Origin. Since there are a lot of moving parts involved in the release, the exact release date is not yet confirmed. However, Sky Mavis has posted various teasers on what players can expect in the upcoming major update.
According to the teasers, the Axie Infinity: Origin will come with a new battle system, which will feature fast-paced gameplay instead of the long ones that the game has today. One of the most exciting things from the teasers is the three free starter Axies that players will get with the update. The three free Axies are named Buba, Olek, and Puffy, and players will be able to use them to practice for the new update.
Sky Mavis stated that these free Axies aren’t considered NFTs and cannot earn the in-game currency of the game, Smooth Love Potions (SLP). There is, however, a possibility that these Axies can acquire SLP in future updates. Still, players can only use them to practice for the big update in the meantime. In order to unlock more Axies, players will need to progress through Adventure mode.
With the aim to make the game more fast-paced and interactive, Sky Mavis is changing the gameplay entirely within this update. Rather than having 2 players predict and play according to how they perceive their opponent will play, Sky Mavis will transition to Sequential Turns-based gameplay. Thus, players will be able to interact with the card their opponent uses during the turn. Furthermore, Sky Mavis also changes the mechanics of energy and cards in an effort to encourage players always to play the turns instead of conserving energy by skipping a turn.
